What is Sinu?

Sinu is a social music feed where people share songs they're genuinely listening to. You follow people whose taste you trust; the feed shows exactly what they've shared — no algorithm, no recommendations.

How you sign in

Sinu offers three sign-in options:

  • Sign in with Google — we receive your Google display name, profile picture, and a unique Google account ID. We do not receive your email address or any Google data beyond this.
  • Sign in with Apple — we receive your Apple display name (first sign-in only; Apple does not resend it on subsequent logins) and a unique Apple account ID. We do not receive your Apple ID email.
  • Sign in with Spotify — available to a small number of invited users only. We receive your Spotify display name, profile picture, Spotify user ID, and OAuth tokens to play music on your behalf.

Data we collect

  • Your display name and profile picture (from whichever sign-in provider you use)
  • A unique user ID derived from your sign-in provider
  • Songs you share as posts, and any caption you write alongside them
  • Songs you like or comment on within Sinu
  • Users you follow within Sinu
  • Your preferred music platform (Apple Music or Spotify), if you set one

We do not collect your email address, payment information, location, contacts, or browsing history.

Music playback

Sinu plays 30-second audio previews using the Apple Music catalog — no Apple Music subscription is required to hear previews. If you have an Apple Music subscription and connect it, Sinu can play full tracks via Apple's MusicKit framework. Spotify users with an active Spotify Premium device can play full tracks via Spotify Connect.

Apple Music previews are fetched server-side using your track's ISRC (a universal recording identifier). No Apple Music account data is stored on our servers beyond the MusicKit developer token used to configure the player.

AI-generated facts

Each song may display 0–2 automatically generated trivia facts. These are generated by the Anthropic Claude API using publicly available information (Wikipedia, MusicBrainz, Genius). Facts are generated once per unique song and shared across all users who post that song. No personal data is sent to Anthropic.

How we use your data

  • To display your profile and posts to other Sinu users
  • To show your shared songs in your followers' feeds
  • To calculate taste match scores based on the artists in your shared songs
  • To play music when you tap play (via Apple Music, Spotify, or preview URLs)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-party services

Sinu uses the following third-party services:

  • Supabase — database storage (PostgreSQL)
  • Vercel — hosting and serverless functions
  • Spotify — track search and music playback for invited Spotify users
  • Apple Music / MusicKit — audio previews and full-track playback for Apple Music subscribers
  • Anthropic — AI-generated song facts

Your data may be processed by these services in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

Cookies & local storage

Sinu uses a session cookie to keep you logged in. We use browser local storage to remember minor UI preferences (e.g. which songs you've saved to Apple Music). No third-party tracking cookies are used.

Children

Sinu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
